I've only just today heard of this, but it appears it's time to get voting in the PLUG Independent Music Awards, you can do so here.
Coincidentally, the winners of last year's awards (Sufjan Stevens, Bright Eyes, Animal Collective) have formed a main part of my listening during 2006 so I'm voraciously checking out the nominees for this year's awards with interest. I'll hold off from posting my choices until I have vigorously researched the nominations' efforts, but it'll take something special to stop Beirut cleaning up for me.
